Colorants are substances used in the production of food that alter the color of the final product through interactions with the components of raw materials and finished goods.

Currently, there are over 80 registered food dyes in international practice, with approximately 60 of them approved for use in Georgia.

In accordance with Georgia’s legislation, food products containing the following dyes: Sunset Yellow (E110), Quinoline Yellow (E104), Azorubine (E122), Allura Red (E129), Tartrazine (E102), and Ponceau (E124), are required to display the following statement on their labels: “May have a negative impact on children’s attention and activity.”
